Frequently asked questions
Operating the appliance
Q: How do I clean the stove?
A: Only clean the hotplate after it has cooled down. Clean the hotplate with a damp cloth and warm soapy water and then dry it down. Do not use abrasive materials, like steel wool, to clean the stove as it will get scratched.
Q: Does it work with every pot?
A: No, only ferromagnetic cookware, e.g. stainless steel or iron. In fact, we offer customers a set of pots with 1 pot and 1 pan already. If the pot does not work or does not transfer heat, it means that the pot cannot be used with the stove.
Q: Can you use a wok on an induction cooktop?
A: If you have a wok with a curved bottom, it cannot be used on a regular induction cooktop, but you can use a flat bottom wok.
Q: Will the stove get hot if I turn it on and forget about it or it accidentally gets left on?
A: Even if the stove is turned on, it will only get hot, or stay hot, if a pot is put on the hotplate. If the pot is empty, after a period of time the stove will automatically turn off
Q: Will the stove stay hot after I finish cooking?
A: The stove will stay hot for a short time after cooking is finished.
Q: Where can I get more pots?
A: Most good kitchenware stores will sell appropriate pots. Just check first they are magnetic.
Q: Is there a child lock?
A: Yes, the customer can lock the stove so children cannot turn it off or on. Refer to Child lock instructions in manual
Q: How much electricity does the stove use?
It depends on how you use the stove however one hotplate on high will use 2kWh in 1 hour of cooking.
Q: How much will it cost to cook with?
A: On average a meal will use 360Reil of electricity whereas LPG will use on average 400Reil per meal.
Q: Are induction cooktops better than LPG?
A: Induction cooktops are better than gas units because, first of all, the induction appliances are safer (gas cooktops produce fire as a source of heat); then, almost 90% of the energy from the electricity is used for cooking while only 50% of energy is used with a gas cooktop with the rest wasted as heat into the air.
Q: Are induction cooktops cheaper than LPG?
A: Induction cooktops on average will cost 55% less in electricity compared to LPG cost.
Q: What happens if there is a power surge in the grid?
A: There is surge protection within the stove that will prevent damage
Q: What happens if there is an electrical fault in the stove?
A: The PRCD (safety switch) in the cable will turn off the power supply to the stove
Q: Is it dangerous to cook with electricity?
A: Induction stoves are the safest form of cooking, there is no flame, it only heats up when you put a pot on the stove and it cools down quickly.
Q: How do customers make payment?
A: All payments by customers are made via mobile money.
Q: Is there any interest on the PAYGO payment options?
A: There is no extra interest on PAYGO plans. The monthly payment amount is all customers pay.
Q: What do I do if I can’t make my payment due to financial difficulties?
A: Contact us and we will discuss payment options with you
